The Lions International Peace Poster Contest can be an excellent first step for Lions Clubs to make links with local schools and youth groups.
The contest, which has been running since 1988, gives children the opportunity to express their thoughts and feelings about peace in an imaginative and creative way. Approximately 600,000 children from nearly 100 countries participate in the peace poster contest, including those proudly sponsored by many Clubs in District 105SW.
Numerous clubs in District 105SW sponsor schools or groups to participate and this years winners can be viewed by following this link – District Peace Poster Winners Virtual Exhibition
The theme of the 2020-2021 Peace Poster Contest is “Peace Through Service” Students, aged 11, 12 or 13 as of 15 November 2020, are eligible to participate.
Each poster is judged on originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme.
Posters advance through several judging levels: local, district, multiple district and international. At the international level, judges from the art, peace, youth, education and media communities select one grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners.
The winning posters from Clubs must reach the District Governor by 15th November.
“Official Guidelines and Rules” of the Contest are included in the Peace Poster Kits.
The Peace Poster Kits also contain applications forms for the ESSAY WRITING CONTEST, though which children who are sight-impaired may express their thoughts and feeling about peace, using the same theme as the Poster Contest.
Kits are available for purchase from March until September. Please contact the District 105SW Peace Poster Officer. Further information may be found on the LCI website.
