Welcome From

District Governor

Lion Graham Lang

Welcome to the Lions Clubs International Website for the South West of England. As District Governor for 2008 -2009, I hope that you will gain an insight into the work performed by the Lions in our area which covers the counties of Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.

When people join Lions, in whatever country of the world, they are asked to observe a list of Purposes, the first one being ‘To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.’ With this aim we have 1400 dedicated Lions throughout the South West, who are only too willing to help those in need.

This year our International President Al Brandel from New York would like all Lions to remember how much they can do to help those less fortunate with “hands on “service. He sees Lions as “Everyday Heroes” who can make a difference. Even a small act may seem like a miracle to those who benefit, so he believes Lions can make miracles happen through Service.

Our sight programmes, our International Aid and actions in time of disaster as well as our Projects and work in our own Communities all show our effectiveness as the World’s largest and most respected Service Organisation.

Through the special and committed volunteers in this and all Districts of the World this is what we do best and I am proud to lead the Clubs of 105SW – albeit for just one year, and hope that we can continue to help those in need and at the same time still have fun and enjoy being volunteers in the Family of Lions.

If you are interested in becoming a Lion and would like to know more, please contact me, or one of the 67 Clubs in the District, a list of which can be found on this Website.
