Fowey River Lions Club was established (or ‘chartered’) in 1977 and is part of Lions Club International, the world’s largest service club organisation.

We hold a business meeting on the first Monday of every month, at The Ship Inn, Par. On the third Monday of the month we have our social get-togethers, when partners and friends also join in.

Lions International

Lions are ordinary people who do amazing things. They are men and women who volunteer their time to humanitarian causes in their local and global communities. As a volunteer organisation, all money raised by Lions Clubs International goes directly to charity.  All administration costs are met by the members, and we pay an annual subscription for membership.

Lions Clubs are central and vital to their local communities. It is the hands-on role in improving local people’s quality of life which really encapsulates the spirit of being a Lion. The Lions’ Message In A Bottle scheme gives peace of mind to many by enabling key details to be immediately available for use in home emergencies, and there is also a growing Lions involvement in environmentally conscious programmes within local communities.

That’s the serious stuff, basically, we’re a great group of people who have fun while helping others!
