Peace Poster

Created in 1988, the Peace Poster Contest gives young people throughout the world a chance to think about world peace and creatively express what it means to them.

Between 1988 and 2008 more than 5 million children have been challenged to draw, paint or sketch their interpretation of world peace. A different theme is selected each year and young people ceate a poster that reflects peace as they see it.

The contest is open to children aged 11, 12 or 13 years of age on 15th November 2008 eligable birth dates are November 16th 1994 through to Novenber 15th 1997.

" Peace Begins With Me " is the theme of the 2008 / 2009 contest. Lions Clubs can sponsor the program in their community in schools, youth groups etc. The contest is a wonderful opportunity for clubs to work with youth in there community to stress the importance of peace, tolerance and international understanding. The contest encourages young people ages 11-13 to think about peace, creativley express what it means to them and share their visions with the world.

Contest packs are available from your District Peace Poster Officer Lion Marcia Cook 01297 20673 at a cost £6-50 per pack. The pack contains full instuctions and rules of the competition.

This past year our District Winner Bryony Stevens-Youngs poster was selected to represent the Multiple District and was awarded an International Merit, one of only 23 worldwide from 350,000 entries!
