MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE

SAVES LIVES

This simple but effective scheme provides vulnerable people or people living on their own with vital life saving information in a common place, the fridge, where it can easily be found in the event of an emergency.

Two labels, one on the inside of the front door and the other on the fridge, alerts the Emergency Services that this information is available. The information stored in this readily identifiable container includes personal details, doctor’s name and telephone number, a brief description of any medical conditions, allergies, family contact details and Repeat Prescription location details for current medication information.

Any Repeat Prescriptions can also be stored in this container, making sure current medication details are made available.

Have you got the Bottle ?

Why the fridge? Apart from being a common location , it's the most likely place to survive a fire.

Message in a Bottle can save lives, and will save the Emergency Services valuable time and money searching for vital information.

It will give both the recipient and their family peace of mind in the event of an emergency at home and is available FREE of charge from your GP surgery, Pharmacy or local Lions Club.

"In emergency situations at home where time really does matter, an initiative the RD&E has signed up to will save lives. Message In A Bottle is a simple, effective way of informing the emergency services about the medical history of the person they are helping by having the details in a small plastic bottle in their fridge at home. Patients who might be vulnerable because they live alone or have a medical condition have been encouraged by hospital staff to take part in the free scheme run by the Lions Club. This information is also useful, for example, when an ambulance crew briefs the hospital Emergency Department staff about a patient. "
