The entry forms for the Quiz and Skittles competitions are attached and I would be grateful if you could fill them in and return them as requested, each with a cheque made out to Lions Clubs International District 105SW (Competitions), by 31st May 2010 latest.
If you have never played in either before, please try it – fun is the main aim – plus the opportunity to get Visiting Lion points. The finals of each competition need to be played by mid February 2011 at the latest, so your club contact should be for the forthcoming Lion’s year.
A full copy of the rules is enclosed but in summary the same questions will be asked of both teams consisting of four players plus an official (Question Master or Time Keeper).
Again a full copy of the rules is enclosed where 8 players are in both teams, each playing 6 hands or 6 players each playing 8 hands (the latter numbers if mutually agreed by both teams which enables smaller clubs to participate).
IN BOTH COMPETITIONS MORE TEAMS/CLUBS MEANS LESS TRAVELLING IN THE EARLY ROUNDS.
This competition commenced on 1st March 2010 and ends with reports received by myself on February 28th 2011.
This competition encourages socializing and visiting for fund-raising events. One point is allowed for each club attended, with two visits per year to any one club allowed, but points are also earned for visiting Convention, District Forums and for skittles and quiz visits. Two points are awarded for visits to clubs in other Districts in our Multiple District and five points are earned for visiting clubs outside MD105.
The rules of our District’s competition do not line up exactly with those of the Multiple District competition because we are looking in our District to make it equally fair for both larger and smaller clubs and to encourage participation in the quiz and skittles competitions.
All forms need to reach myself within 14 days of the visit which allows me
to collate the information for the District competition and to forward the
forms to MDHQ for the Multiple District competition where visits must be
logged within 28 days of the visit.
The scrapbook submitted must be for the past full year i.e. in March 2011 at Convention the scrapbook for 2009 – 2010 will be judged.
As with the other competitions a copy of the rules is enclosed with this mail-drop, along with a copy of the latest Visiting Lion forms.
I look forward to receiving your entries and cheques by 31st May 2010 and once again let’s have a good time participating in the District Competitions.
Yours in Lionism
Hazel Jones
